The World Bank has approved a $1 billion loan for Kenya to help it close a gaping budget deficit and tackle the economic shocks from the corona virus pandemic, both sides said on Wednesday. The loan, initiated before the health crisis started, is the second ever such direct lending for the budget from the World Bank, after the first was processed last year. “Its approval is timely, since it will help fill the financing gap generated by the severe, ongoing shock to Kenya’s economy,” the World Bank said in a statement. 4. Education: For Lovers of Music
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

Launched in 2018, the American Music Creators Web Archive is an ongoing collection from the Library of Congress. The archive features web content published by "musicians, performers, and composers contributing to the American music scene." Both mainstream and independent musicians are included in the collection, as well as musicians from a variety of genres (such as jazz, hip hop, and EDM). While the collection is still a work in progress, readers can view dozens of current archived materials under the Collection Items tab. The panel on the left hand side allows visitors to narrow by contributor and subject, among other filters. Each record for an archived website has a detailed item annotation with a brief summary and information on the featured artist or group's genre and form. Users can explore an archived website by clicking on the image at the top of the record then selecting a date on the subsequently displayed calendar. Material acquisition is ongoing, so readers may want to check back routinely to browse new additions. If you enjoy this archive, you may want to check out the Library of Congress's similar collections, including American Choral Music and Early American Sheet Music.  Visit this site.

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

Refugee Flow is an interactive data visualization project that "examines one of the direct fundamental causes of the global refugee crisis, the collapse of order and stability in today's international landscape." On the main screen, featuring a striking 3D globe, visitors can explore the locations and fatality counts of armed conflicts worldwide for the years 2010-2018, with the ability to filter by region and quarter. This screen also provides a graph of total asylum applications from the region and year being viewed. Under the project's Route tab, visitors will find mapped representations of migrants' causes of death and injury along regional migration routes, accompanied by text and graphs summarizing each region's refugee situation, country-specific information on illegal border crossings, and links to data sources. This ongoing project integrates data from multiple sources, including the UNHCR Population Statistics Database and Armed Conflict Location & Event Data, to visualize "the impact conflict, persecution, and violence have on the lives of persons in their home countries and communities." Launched in July 2018, Refugee Flow was co-created by Will Su, a data visualization designer and coder, and Abin Abraham, a Web Development Coordinator at the United Nations Global Compact.
